God is not about violence. He is about love and equality and standing and speaking up for what is right.
He commanded us to “love each other as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)
If we love and live our lives in a way that embodies that kind of love, if every person became the greatest version of themselves, imagine where we could take our world. What a better place and a better reality we would be making if each person would put love first and love in such a way as Christ has taught us.
A great writer once said, “One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love.” Many people find it difficult to understand what love is, and the only way to understand love is to learn it through God. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, nor does it boast, and is not proud. It does not dishonor others. It is not self-seeking nor easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres, and it never fails.”
Be in this higher state of love and surrender yourself to God. Loving God changes the way you love others. It makes it easier to understand and see things and to accept and do good. As with all things, it begins with you.
Know who you are and what you believe in and use that to guide your everyday thoughts, beliefs, and actions. We can’t change people, but we can let them understand and we can be an example for them to follow.
Be a person who loves a diverse world because of all its beautiful differences. Hold close all of the messages that Christ delivered, so that you can guide people to come together with love, understanding, and acceptance of everyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from.
